Open Tabs
This project involved designing a book cover for author Isha Surti’s novel Open Tabs, a workplace romance. I was tasked with creating a visually distinctive, engaging cover that reflected the story's tone while appealing to its target audience. The final design was inspired by key themes from the book and aimed to capture a sense of intimacy, humour, and modern romance.
Isha reached out to let me know she had finished her book and was looking for a cover that would capture the viewer’s attention while also giving readers a clear sense of what the story is about. As this was her first published book, it was important that the cover felt both distinctive and true to the narrative. During the brainstorming phase, I read the book and pulled key elements from the story—elements that readers would recognise as they progressed—while giving the design an illustrated, sketch-like, hand-drawn feel.
